HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - It was a blast! On Sat., Apr. 3rd, 2010, most of the contributing writers for Dark Tales of Terror attended the book launch party, at Huntington Mall Borders, Barboursville, WV. The book release party—on the day before Easter—represented the single largest gathering of Appalachian authors since the West Virginia Book Festival, last October in Charleston.

Michael Knost and Writers Workshop of Horror (Woodland Press) recently won the coveted 2009 Bram Stoker Award in the nonfiction category. The Bram Stoker Awards are hosted by the Horror Writers Association and is considered the highest honor for authors and editors in the horror/suspense/dark fiction genres.

HURRICANE, W.Va. - (Tues., Mar. 16, 2010) - Arch Alfred Moore, Jr., served three terms as Governor of West Virginia, and his biography by attorney Brad Crouser is one of the best books on recent history and modern politics in the state.

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. - (Saturday, March 27th, 2010) - This evening, at a special ceremony hosted by the Horror Writers Association, at Brighton, England, Michael Knost, of Chapmanville, WV, won the prestigious 2010 Bram Stoker Award, in the Superior Achievement in Non-fiction category, for the title, Writers Workshop of Horror.

LOGAN, W.Va - Late Appalachian historian and accomplished author Dr. Coleman C. Hatfield, of Logan County, was raised on raucous and spine-tingling stories of Anderson “Devil Anse” Hatfield and the Hatfield and McCoy feud. From the time he was three or four years old, he heard vivid stories about his famous great-grandpa, Anse, wrestling bears and successfully tracking whitetails, panthers and ‘coons through primitive mountain country by horseback.

We have been notified that Michael Knost and Writers Workshop of Horror (Woodland Press) has won the national 2009 Black Quill Award for Best Dark Genre Book of Non-Fiction, Editor's Choice.

"I'm honored to be a part of such a great book," Michael Knost said, after receiving notification from Dark Scribe Magazine. "It was an honor working with so many phenomenal contributors."

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. - West Virginia UFO author and researcher Kyle Lovern recently appeared as the guest on the Coast to Coast AM radio show, on Thurs., Jan. 14, 2010 (more accurately, in the wee-hours on Friday morning).
