Dark Tales of Terror: Fourteen authors participate in book launch

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - It was a blast! On Sat., Apr. 3rd, 2010, most of the contributing writers for Dark Tales of Terror attended the book launch party, at Huntington Mall Borders, Barboursville, WV. The book release party—on the day before Easter—represented the single largest gathering of Appalachian authors since the West Virginia Book Festival, last October in Charleston.

Michael Knost and Writers Workshop of Horror (Woodland Press) recently won the coveted 2009 Bram Stoker Award in the nonfiction category. The Bram Stoker Awards are hosted by the Horror Writers Association and is considered the highest honor for authors and editors in the horror/suspense/dark fiction genres.

Hatfield, of Logan County, was raised on raucous and spine-tingling stories of Anderson “Devil Anse” Hatfield and the Hatfield and McCoy feud. From the time he was three or four years old, he heard vivid stories about his famous great-grandpa, Anse, wrestling bears and successfully tracking whitetails, panthers and ‘coons through primitive mountain country by horseback.
