Keith Davis seeks old photos to preserve Logan County history

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. - A Logan County resident recently signed a literary contract with Arcadia Publishing, of Mount Pleasant, SC, to write and produce a new pictorial history of Logan County.

According to Arcadia Acquisitions Editor Amy Perryman, F. Keith Davis, of Chapmanville, will author a book about the history and culture of the area. Besides the historical account, the book will also include more than two hundred black and white antique photographs from the mid-1800s to the 1970s. Tentatively titled, Logan County, West Virginia, the volume is scheduled to be released in early 2011, as part of their popular Images of America series.

Arcadia says the Images of America series celebrates a town or region, bringing to life the people, places and events that define the community. Davis will be accepting vintage photos, with descriptions, from all over the region for possible inclusion in the book.

"Although I am fortunate to already have an extensive collection of photographs from my years as a newspaperman and author, I know there are many, many more out there that have never been published, that would make such a nice contribution to this work. I am honored to have been asked to do this book, because I believe it is so important to document the area's history for our posterity," Davis said.

Davis may be contacted about submitting photos, by emailing him at woodlandpressllc@mac.com, or by mail, at Keith Davis/Arcadia Book, 118 Woodland Drive, Chapmanville, WV 25508. Subject matters can include people, groups, places and landmarks, and credit will be given in the book for those photographs used. For all photos mailed to Davis, include a prepaid self-addressed envelope so they can be returned. High resolution scanned photos (at least at 300 dpi in jpeg format) can also be emailed directly to Davis, along with a photo description.

Davis is also the founder and CEO of Woodland Press, LLC, of Chapmanville, WV.
