ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Bob Fala is a certified wildlife biologist and member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America. His career began in 1975 as a wildlife conservation officer for the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC). He then worked for Arch Mineral Corporation (now Arch Coal, Inc.) on coalmine land reclamation and wildlife issues, particularly with golden eagles and mule deer in Wyoming, then Illinois and West Virginia, where he’s made his home for the past 25 years. In teh Mountain State he’s continued similar work with the WVDEP’s Division of Mining and Reclamation, particularly with regard to the endangered Indiana bat. During this time, he has also been the outdoor columnist for the Logan Banner, a daily newspaper in Logan, WV, and has written extensively for several magazines. He holds a B.S. in forestry and M.S. in wildlife from Pennsylvania State University and is a graduate of the PGC’s 16th academy class for conservation officers. He has twice been awarded the West Virginia Bowhunters Association Outdoor Writer of the Year. Upon retirement, he went to work on this, his first book. A must have!
