ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Dan George grew up in Logan, West Virginia, the heart of the southern West Virginia coalfields. After graduating from Marshall University in Huntington, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for four years, then returned to Logan where he began a career in the insurance industry with Nationwide Insurance.
He was ordained into the ministry on October 30, 1983, at Sunbeam Chapel in Logan. As he moved through various positions in different states with Nationwide Insurance, he continued to be involved in local churches, in teaching and preaching capacities.

In 2003, Dan retired from the insurance industry and accepted the calling as full-time pastor at Six Mile Baptist Church in Hemphill, Texas, holding that position for nearly 10 years. In 2012, he and his wife, Avonell, relocated to Cypress, Texas, where they now live, near their son Brian and his wife Rhonda. They are active members of Fairfield Baptist Church where Dan teaches Sunday School, leads a small group, and facilitates a Monday night prayer gathering. He and Avonell recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary.
